Star Wars Birthday Party
Star Wars Birthday
What little boy isn’t into Star Wars at some point or another? It seems to be a rite of passage that every little boy loves the movies, games, action figures, characters, and just about anything that has to do with this classic movie. With the evolution of the new series of Star Wars movies has come with it many more young and loyal followers, so that means that a birthday party with these theme will be quite welcome and enjoyed. Little boys that are invited to a Star Wars birthday party will be excited and it is sure to be fun for everyone.
Planning
It’s best to begin planning for the party at least 4 - 5 weeks in advance. This will ensure that you have enough time to send out invitations and purchase or make the decorations.
The first consideration that often comes up when planning a birthday party is where to have it. Your backyard or even inside of your home can be magically transformed into whatever you want with just a few choice decorations.
If you plan on making the decorations or invitations yourself, be sure to allow enough time to gather materials and complete the crafts. For those of us on a more pressing time schedule, there are companies that offer everything from pre-assembled Star Wars birthday kits which include plates, cups, invitations, banners, party favors and more–just be mindful of the shipping dates/times.
Tips
- Consider renting rarely used items such as tables/chairs or karaoke machines from party rental supply stores to save money.
- Allow for extra guests by having a little extra food or a few extra goodie bags on hand.
- Encourage guests to come as their favorite Star Wars character.
- Don’t forget to send thank you notes to all those who attend.
Invitations
You need to be sure that the invitations are not only cool by any little boy’s standards but that they set the tone for all the excitement that this type of party can bring. They absolutely must have one of the key characters on the front of them such as Chewie or Hans Solo to set the tone and show them what fun they have in store for them. It’s a must!
It’s also neat if the invitation has a special greeting inside with the birthday boy’s name in it such as "Hans Solo and Yoda invite you to a birthday party for Billy. We will be traveling to a galaxy far far way." The little boys will love this and your special little birthday boy will be on top of the world with this special little attention to detail. Simple and effective, you are sure to find the perfect invitation by visiting here.
Decorations
This is what the party is all about. The more far out you can get on the decorations, the better.
- Find a life sized Chewie figure if you can that can greet guests as they walk in the door. If you can have somebody come dressed in one of the costumes, that’s even better.
- You need to be sure that everything from the tablecloths, to the streamers, to the plates and napkins, to the balloons are all in the Star Wars theme. You can find some excellent decorations here to get you started.
- Set the tone by having the venue dimly lit and incorporate the Star Wars color theme of dark blue, grey, and black wherever possible.
- It would help to have some of the music from the movie playing in the background so that guests enter a true Star Wars world as they come into the party.
- For an extra special touch that will get everyone excited, have all of the little boys (and even adults if you like!) come dressed up as their favorite Star Wars character.
Games
If you really want to keep with the spirit of things, then you most definitely need to include a light saber battle at your Star Wars party. As light sabers are one of the most popular aspects of the Star Wars movies and theme, you must set up a battle course for your little ones to battle it out at.
- If the weather will allow you to have a light saber battle course outdoors, then this is the perfect way to set up little courses.
- If you have a Laser Tag facility nearby, then you can set this up as the most exquisite of the "light saber wars". If however you are trying to plan things on a budget or want to have the party at your house, you can set up a fun area for the kids to have light saber battles that lead to an ultimate championship.
- Of course be sure to have the ultimate prizes available to make every guest feel like a winner ranging from Star Wars sticker to action figures to games that they can take home with them.
- Another fun option is to have a Star Wars trivia contest. In this game you put together a whole list of questions that you can quiz the kids on. The questions can range from the very simple such as "Who is the Princess in the original Star Wars movie?" to the more difficult questions that rely on the kids ability to remember the details about the movie. This can be fun and get all of the kids engaged in this fun game of trivia.
Food & Cake
You really need to play up the theme with food as much as you can. The cake must be nothing short of a Star Wars masterpiece. It can be simple but should be quite effective-think of a yummy cake that has the dark blue and silver frosting and icing with action figures of the birthday boys favorite characters from the movie. It doesn’t have to be complicated, but the theme must be carried out well through the cake as a centerpiece of the day.
- As a variation you could create "Yoda Cupcakes" complete with a little action figure of him on the top of each one.
- You can also have fun with the food and make "Chewie Cheeseburgers" that are sure to please.
- Just play up the theme in all the foods that you serve such as "Luke Skywalker" pizza-you can just name the foods this or add special little touches from each character to make it super fun.
Planning a Star Wars party doesn’t have to be difficult, but if you carry out the theme through all of the various aspects of the party, you will have one very happy birthday boy on your hands!
