Spongebob Birthday party
Spongebob Party
SpongeBob is the main character of a hit TV cartoon. He is a sea sponge who lives with his pet snail, Gary, in a fully furnished, two bedroom pineapple in the undersea town of Bikini Bottom.
It seems that every child is enamored with the adventures of Sponge Bob Square Pants. The Sponge Bob Square Pants TV show is so popular that it should be no wonder that a Spongebob Birthday is very fun for kids these days.
Planning
It’s best to begin planning for the party at least 4 - 5 weeks in advance. This will ensure that you have enough time to send out invitations and purchase or make the decorations.
The first consideration that often comes up when planning a birthday party is where to have it. Your backyard or even inside of your home can be magically transformed into whatever you want with just a few choice decorations.
If you plan on making the decorations or invitations yourself, be sure to allow enough time to gather materials and complete the crafts. For those of us on a more pressing time schedule, there are companies that offer everything from pre-assembled Spider-Man Party birthday kits to plates, cups, trinkets and party favors-just be mindful of the shipping dates/times.
Tips
- Consider renting rarely used items such as tables/chairs or karaoke machines from party rental supply stores to save money.
- Allow for extra guests by having a little extra food or a few extra goodie bags on hand.
- Encourage guests to come as their favorite superhero character.
- Don’t forget to send thank you notes to all those who attend.
Invitations
As Sponge Bob is one of the most popular cartoon characters out there, you can find a great selection of invitations to choose from. If you want to start somewhere with picking out the one that your birthday boy or girl is sure to love, visit here to get your ideas started. You can pick out any number of Sponge Bob invitations.
For a special touch with the invitations you can make on your own, use some Sponge Bob stickers.. You can let the birthday boy or girl decorate the outside of the envelopes with them, or even put them into the invitations for the guests to enjoy on their own. If your child is a bit of an artist, have them draw their own interpretation of Sponge Bob and put that into each guests’ envelope. Everyone loves to get a picture from the birthday person!
Another creative idea would be to glue an invitation to the back of a small yellow sponge or accompany the invitation with a small sponge with Sponge Bob’s picture glued to it.
The invitation might say something like this:
“Sponge Bob, who lives in a pineapple under the sea” invites you to an underwater birthday adventure to be held at Bikini Bottom (your address). Come an join Sponge Bob and Gary and help us celebrate (the birthday boy or girl’s name) birthday. Include date and time.
Decorations
You will not run out of options when it comes to finding decorations to keep with your Sponge Bob theme. It’s all about the ones that you pick so be sure that you include a big square shaped Sponge Bob balloon in the mix—at least one! If you have the venue to support it, finding an inflatable Sponge Bob to keep outside is the perfect way to greet guests and so much fun as you watch him blow in the wind. You can find a party pack with all the decorations or customize your own party decorations by visiting here . Just be sure that you include everything in the theme and that should definitely include tablecloths, streamers, napkins, plates, and cups, as well as some signage. The signs that say “Happy Birthday” with your child’s name are always special as they make them feel like the whole party is all about them—and after all that’s what it should be.
To add to the ambiance, it could be a ton of fun to have the Sponge Bob Square Pants song playing as guests enter. Then after the guests are inside and having fun, you can put on some favorite episodes of the cartoon itself. This is sure to please the kids and will allow the adults to have some fun too. You can see it doesn’t take much to create a wonderful birthday party that’s fun for all!
Because this is an undersea theme you can get very creative with draping fish nets and shells around. You could also get posters of Sponge Bob and post them around. Have the birthday or birthday boy draw up their own pictures of Sponge Bob and place these all around as well.
A well placed bubble machine that you can rent will also add to the underwater ambiance.
Just watch a quick episode of the cartoon and you will come away with lots of other great ideas for decorating.
Games
You can surely play up some classic games at this super fun party for the kids.
- How about “Pin the Square Pants on the Sponge Bob” as a crowd pleaser? In this updated and appropriately themed version of “Pin the Tail on the Donkey” all of the kids will rally up to see who can win this fun and classic game.
- Keep with the theme you could have fun with a Sponge Bob piñata that all of the kids will love to take a whack at. Be sure to fill up the piñata not only with yummy candy but also with Sponge Bob stickers, toys, and games that will bring hours of amusement beyond the party.
- If you want to introduce a new and fun game that relates to this most classic cartoon, then consider adding in something like a Krabby Patty Relay Race. In this fun adventure catered to the beloved character on the Sponge Bob show, you can have teams of kids run through an obstacle course that you create using simple household objects. The first team to make it through the obstacle course picking up all of the named objects wins—and of course the prize must be something related to Sponge Bob such as a poster for everyone.
- You could have a bubble blowing game and give prizes for different categories, most bubbles, biggest bubbles…..
- Scavenger hunts are always fun. You could make up list of undersea objects (you have previously hidden) the teams have to go around and find.
- There are lots of games that can be played with sponges. One in oarticular, if it is a warm day is a sponge toss game. Everyone has a partner for this. They each have a bucket of water and one sponge to share. They toss the wet sponge back and forth to each other, each time stepping back a little further and re-soaking the sponge. The last team to keep catching without dropping and is the furthest apart wins.
- You can also use sponges and paints to make fun art work. It can be messy, but the kids love it!
- If this is a girl’s party you could have a table with shells and beads that can be strung as necklaces. Girls love to make their own necklaces.
- Of course you can always watch a quick episode of the cartoon show.
Food Ideas
Prepare food that kids love and rename each item so it matches the theme of the show.
Because every kid knows that Sponge Bob works as a cook at the Krusty Krab you’ve got to serve burgers called Krabby Patty Burgers. Serve these with Krabby Fries.
You could also have starfish pizza (yum!), or peanut butter and jelly fish sandwiches. Have a bowl of munchies out and call it seeweed snacks. How about coral reef hot dogs. Or frothy ocean punch…..get the idea.
Cake
This can be one cake that you may be successful in making on your own. You can find some great ideas online and it can be as easy as following the suggestions, getting the right size of cake pans, and picking up all the ingredients. A boxed cake will work just fine because for this cake it’s all about the frosting and the decorating to make Sponge Bob really come alive.
You may want to think of shaping the cake like a star fish for extra creativity.
For a slightly different variation have cupcakes and let the kids decorate their own. You can get Sponge Bob decorations along with some of the other characters from the show that will work perfectly for creating their own delicious masterpieces. You’re sure to find some great ones here as a starting point. Then you bake the cupcakes, put out some frosting, and of course the decorations, and let the kids go wild. This is sure to be fun for the kids and keep them entertained—all keeping with the theme and making it a very special birthday party!
Be sure to have a goodie bag for each guest. You can get a number of themes items for a Spongebob party here.
