SpongeBob is the main character of a hit TV cartoon. He is a sea sponge who lives with his pet snail, Gary, in a fully furnished, two bedroom pineapple in the undersea town of Bikini Bottom.

It seems that every child is enamored with the adventures of Sponge Bob Square Pants. The Sponge Bob Square Pants TV show is so popular that it should be no wonder that a Spongebob Birthday is very fun for kids these days.

Planning

It’s best to begin planning for the party at least 4 - 5 weeks in advance. This will ensure that you have enough time to send out invitations and purchase or make the decorations.

The first consideration that often comes up when planning a birthday party is where to have it. Your backyard or even inside of your home can be magically transformed into whatever you want with just a few choice decorations.

If you plan on making the decorations or invitations yourself, be sure to allow enough time to gather materials and complete the crafts. For those of us on a more pressing time schedule, there are companies that offer everything from pre-assembled Spider-Man Party birthday kits to plates, cups, trinkets and party favors-just be mindful of the shipping dates/times.

Tips

Consider renting rarely used items such as tables/chairs or karaoke machines from party rental supply stores to save money.

Allow for extra guests by having a little extra food or a few extra goodie bags on hand.

Encourage guests to come as their favorite superhero character.

Don’t forget to send thank you notes to all those who attend.

Invitations

As Sponge Bob is one of the most popular cartoon characters out there, you can find a great selection of invitations to choose from. If you want to start somewhere with picking out the one that your birthday boy or girl is sure to love, visit here to get your ideas started. You can pick out any number of Sponge Bob invitations.

For a special touch with the invitations you can make on your own, use some Sponge Bob stickers.. You can let the birthday boy or girl decorate the outside of the envelopes with them, or even put them into the invitations for the guests to enjoy on their own. If your child is a bit of an artist, have them draw their own interpretation of Sponge Bob and put that into each guests’ envelope. Everyone loves to get a picture from the birthday person!

Another creative idea would be to glue an invitation to the back of a small yellow sponge or accompany the invitation with a small sponge with Sponge Bob’s picture glued to it.

The invitation might say something like this:

“Sponge Bob, who lives in a pineapple under the sea” invites you to an underwater birthday adventure to be held at Bikini Bottom (your address). Come an join Sponge Bob and Gary and help us celebrate (the birthday boy or girl’s name) birthday. Include date and time.

Decorations

You will not run out of options when it comes to finding decorations to keep with your Sponge Bob theme. It’s all about the ones that you pick so be sure that you include a big square shaped Sponge Bob balloon in the mix—at least one! If you have the venue to support it, finding an inflatable Sponge Bob to keep outside is the perfect way to greet guests and so much fun as you watch him blow in the wind. You can find a party pack with all the decorations or customize your own party decorations by visiting here . Just be sure that you include everything in the theme and that should definitely include tablecloths, streamers, napkins, plates, and cups, as well as some signage. The signs that say “Happy Birthday” with your child’s name are always special as they make them feel like the whole party is all about them—and after all that’s what it should be.

To add to the ambiance, it could be a ton of fun to have the Sponge Bob Square Pants song playing as guests enter. Then after the guests are inside and having fun, you can put on some favorite episodes of the cartoon itself. This is sure to please the kids and will allow the adults to have some fun too. You can see it doesn’t take much to create a wonderful birthday party that’s fun for all!

Because this is an undersea theme you can get very creative with draping fish nets and shells around. You could also get posters of Sponge Bob and post them around. Have the birthday or birthday boy draw up their own pictures of Sponge Bob and place these all around as well.

A well placed bubble machine that you can rent will also add to the underwater ambiance.

Just watch a quick episode of the cartoon and you will come away with lots of other great ideas for decorating.

Games

You can surely play up some classic games at this super fun party for the kids.

How about “Pin the Square Pants on the Sponge Bob” as a crowd pleaser? In this updated and appropriately themed version of “Pin the Tail on the Donkey” all of the kids will rally up to see who can win this fun and classic game.

Keep with the theme you could have fun with a Sponge Bob piñata that all of the kids will love to take a whack at. Be sure to fill up the piñata not only with yummy candy but also with Sponge Bob stickers, toys, and games that will bring hours of amusement beyond the party.

If you want to introduce a new and fun game that relates to this most classic cartoon, then consider adding in something like a Krabby Patty Relay Race. In this fun adventure catered to the beloved character on the Sponge Bob show, you can have teams of kids run through an obstacle course that you create using simple household objects. The first team to make it through the obstacle course picking up all of the named objects wins—and of course the prize must be something related to Sponge Bob such as a poster for everyone.

You could have a bubble blowing game and give prizes for different categories, most bubbles, biggest bubbles…..

Scavenger hunts are always fun. You could make up list of undersea objects (you have previously hidden) the teams have to go around and find.

There are lots of games that can be played with sponges. One in oarticular, if it is a warm day is a sponge toss game. Everyone has a partner for this. They each have a bucket of water and one sponge to share. They toss the wet sponge back and forth to each other, each time stepping back a little further and re-soaking the sponge. The last team to keep catching without dropping and is the furthest apart wins.

You can also use sponges and paints to make fun art work. It can be messy, but the kids love it!

If this is a girl’s party you could have a table with shells and beads that can be strung as necklaces. Girls love to make their own necklaces.

Of course you can always watch a quick episode of the cartoon show.

Food Ideas

Prepare food that kids love and rename each item so it matches the theme of the show.

Because every kid knows that Sponge Bob works as a cook at the Krusty Krab you’ve got to serve burgers called Krabby Patty Burgers. Serve these with Krabby Fries.

You could also have starfish pizza (yum!), or peanut butter and jelly fish sandwiches. Have a bowl of munchies out and call it seeweed snacks. How about coral reef hot dogs. Or frothy ocean punch…..get the idea.

  Cake

This can be one cake that you may be successful in making on your own. You can find some great ideas online and it can be as easy as following the suggestions, getting the right size of cake pans, and picking up all the ingredients. A boxed cake will work just fine because for this cake it’s all about the frosting and the decorating to make Sponge Bob really come alive.

You may want to think of shaping the cake like a star fish for extra creativity.

For a slightly different variation have cupcakes and let the kids decorate their own. You can get Sponge Bob decorations along with some of the other characters from the show that will work perfectly for creating their own delicious masterpieces. You’re sure to find some great ones here as a starting point. Then you bake the cupcakes, put out some frosting, and of course the decorations, and let the kids go wild. This is sure to be fun for the kids and keep them entertained—all keeping with the theme and making it a very special birthday party!

Be sure to have a goodie bag for each guest. You can get a number of themes items for a Spongebob party here.

Princess Birthday Party

What little girl doesn’t love to be a princess? Dressing up like a princess is an activity that most little girls do on a regular basis. Every little girl has that dream of being a princess and being rescued by the prince. They love to wear the tiara and the big poofy dress, feeling regal and glamorous all along the way. So why not turn that little dream into the perfect theme for a birthday party?

Princess parties have become all the rage because every parent of a little girl knows that this will make their daughter feel special and enjoy every second of their birthday. Princess parties need not be difficult or overly involved to be special.

With some special touches and the incorporation of the princess theme and colors throughout the birthday venue, you are sure to set a scene fit for royalty. Not only will your little girl love the princess party but all of the guests will be taken to the land of "once upon a time".

One thing that makes a princess part extra fun and memorable is to have the guest of honor dressed out completely as a little princess. Here’s a company where you can get cute princes costumes. Be sure to invite the others guests to dress us as well.

For those of us on a more pressing time schedule, there are companies that offer everything from pre-assembled princess party birthday kits which include: plates, cups, trinkets and party favors, banner invitations and more-just be mindful of the shipping dates/times.

Tips

Consider renting rarely used items such as tables/chairs or karaoke machines from party rental supply stores to save money.

Allow for extra guests by having a little extra food or a few extra goodie bags on hand.

Encourage guests to come dressed up as little princesses.

Don’t forget to send thank you notes to all those who attend.

Invitations

Every princess party must start off on the right foot and have the perfect invitations to set the tone. Guests should surely know that they are invited to a party fit for royalty the minute that they open their invitations.

For the invitation you might want to include a tiara with them. Be sure to keep with the colors that you will use-often this color scheme involves a lot of pink, and perhaps some purple or silver. You can find some excellent options by visiting here.

You can get a bit more elaborate if you choose to make your own in the shape of a tiara, or even make a scroll in pure royal fashion.

You can also make an invitation that reads like a regal proclamation, something like "Hear Ye, Hear the King and Quest request the honor of your presence at the official crowning of Princess (name) for her birthday on (date and time). You can burn the edges of the invitation (to make it look old) and roll it and tie it with a ribbon or seal it with a drop of wax.

Decorations

The decorations are by far the most important aspect of any princess party. This is where you truly set the tone for the fairy princess and so you need to spend a fair amount of time and money on creating a party atmosphere fit for your little princess. This means of course that there need to be tiaras throughout the party venue, one for each little girl attending. Your little princess however should have the biggest and most decorated tiara of them all as she is the princess of the day.

All streamers, balloons, and signage should use the pink and purple hues that are bound to be a part of your princess party. Just when you think that you have enough pink balloons and streamers, be sure to add a few more. This is in an instance where the more you use the better it will be for the occasion itself. You want signage that reads "Happy Birthday Princess" and little wands make for perfect decorations on all of the tables. You can find some excellent decorations fit for your little princess at www.TBD.com . There should be no doubt that guests are here to celebrate your little princess! To make the party truly special, ask all of the little girls that are attending to dress up in their best princess dresses. That works well or you can have a whole rack of "dress up" items for the girls to enjoy.

Games

When the girls arrive you can have a couple parents or older girls help with this. Have a few tables set up to do make-over. What little girl doesn’t want a princess make-over?

You can have a lot of fun with the games at this princess party. Play up classic games with the theme such as "Princess Says" instead of "Simon Says". This lets your little girl feel front and center and still allows for some really fun party games.

Board games like "Pretty Pretty Princess" whereby the girls all have instructions to dress up and play along with the rules will keep them entertained and be a perfect way to complement the theme.

You can have a scavenger hunt all around the house or yard. Divide the girls into teams and give each team a list items they need to find. Each list will be different except for one item. Each list will have on a magic slipper. Both teams will be looking for this and there will only be one! Hide all sorts of princess trinkets around and they should find these as well. You can give out prizes at the end. Make sure everybody gets a prize!

The Princes and the Pea story makes for a fun game. Tell the story and then let each princess sit on a pillow and try to guess if it is a pea or something else. You can put all sorts of different objects under the pillow and as players get eliminated the objects get smaller and smaller.

Crafts

What little boy isn’t into Star Wars at some point or another? It seems to be a rite of passage that every little boy loves the movies, games, action figures, characters, and just about anything that has to do with this classic movie. With the evolution of the new series of Star Wars movies has come with it many more young and loyal followers, so that means that a birthday party with these theme will be quite welcome and enjoyed. Little boys that are invited to a Star Wars birthday party will be excited and it is sure to be fun for everyone.

For those of us on a more pressing time schedule, there are companies that offer everything from pre-assembled Star Wars birthday kits which include plates, cups, invitations, banners, party favors and more–just be mindful of the shipping dates/times.

Tips

Consider renting rarely used items such as tables/chairs or karaoke machines from party rental supply stores to save money.

Allow for extra guests by having a little extra food or a few extra goodie bags on hand.

Encourage guests to come as their favorite Star Wars character.

Don’t forget to send thank you notes to all those who attend.

Invitations

You need to be sure that the invitations are not only cool by any little boy’s standards but that they set the tone for all the excitement that this type of party can bring. They absolutely must have one of the key characters on the front of them such as Chewie or Hans Solo to set the tone and show them what fun they have in store for them. It’s a must!

It’s also neat if the invitation has a special greeting inside with the birthday boy’s name in it such as "Hans Solo and Yoda invite you to a birthday party for Billy. We will be traveling to a galaxy far far way." The little boys will love this and your special little birthday boy will be on top of the world with this special little attention to detail. Simple and effective, you are sure to find the perfect invitation by visiting here.

Decorations

This is what the party is all about. The more far out you can get on the decorations, the better.

Find a life sized Chewie figure if you can that can greet guests as they walk in the door. If you can have somebody come dressed in one of the costumes, that’s even better.

You need to be sure that everything from the tablecloths, to the streamers, to the plates and napkins, to the balloons are all in the Star Wars theme. You can find some excellent decorations here to get you started.

Set the tone by having the venue dimly lit and incorporate the Star Wars color theme of dark blue, grey, and black wherever possible.

It would help to have some of the music from the movie playing in the background so that guests enter a true Star Wars world as they come into the party.

For an extra special touch that will get everyone excited, have all of the little boys (and even adults if you like!) come dressed up as their favorite Star Wars character.

Games

If you really want to keep with the spirit of things, then you most definitely need to include a light saber battle at your Star Wars party. As light sabers are one of the most popular aspects of the Star Wars movies and theme, you must set up a battle course for your little ones to battle it out at.

If the weather will allow you to have a light saber battle course outdoors, then this is the perfect way to set up little courses.

If you have a Laser Tag facility nearby, then you can set this up as the most exquisite of the "light saber wars". If however you are trying to plan things on a budget or want to have the party at your house, you can set up a fun area for the kids to have light saber battles that lead to an ultimate championship.

Of course be sure to have the ultimate prizes available to make every guest feel like a winner ranging from Star Wars sticker to action figures to games that they can take home with them.

Another fun option is to have a Star Wars trivia contest. In this game you put together a whole list of questions that you can quiz the kids on. The questions can range from the very simple such as "Who is the Princess in the original Star Wars movie?" to the more difficult questions that rely on the kids ability to remember the details about the movie. This can be fun and get all of the kids engaged in this fun game of trivia.

Food & Cake

You really need to play up the theme with food as much as you can. The cake must be nothing short of a Star Wars masterpiece. It can be simple but should be quite effective-think of a yummy cake that has the dark blue and silver frosting and icing with action figures of the birthday boys favorite characters from the movie. It doesn’t have to be complicated, but the theme must be carried out well through the cake as a centerpiece of the day.

As a variation you could create "Yoda Cupcakes" complete with a little action figure of him on the top of each one.

You can also have fun with the food and make "Chewie Cheeseburgers" that are sure to please.

Just play up the theme in all the foods that you serve such as "Luke Skywalker" pizza-you can just name the foods this or add special little touches from each character to make it super fun.

Planning a Star Wars party doesn’t have to be difficult, but if you carry out the theme through all of the various aspects of the party, you will have one very happy birthday boy on your hands!

Jungle Theme Party

Children are naturally curious, and as such, they all have inner explorers. Take your child on the exploration of a lifetime with this jungle themed party. Whether your theme leans more towards Tarzan or rainforest jungle, you’re sure to find lots of ideas here!

It’s best to begin planning for the party at least 4 – 5 weeks in advance. This will ensure that you have enough time to send out invitations and purchase or make the decorations.

The first consideration that often comes up when planning a birthday party is where to have it. Your backyard or even inside of your home can be magically transformed into a lush jungle with just a few choice decorations.

If you plan on making the decorations or invitations yourself, be sure to allow enough time to gather materials and complete the crafts. For those of us on a more pressing time schedule, there are companies that offer everything from pre-assembled jungle themed birthday kits to dozens of trinkets and party favors—just be mindful of the shipping dates/times.

Tips

Pass out safari hats and compasses to guests as they enter. Encourage them to come dressed in khaki as ‘explorers’ to complete the look.

Consider renting rarely used items such as tables/chairs or karaoke machines from party rental supply stores to save money.

Allow for extra guests by having a little extra food or a few extra goodie bags on hand.

Go to the library and check out various “rain forest” or “jungle sounds” CDs. This will set the direction and really make people feel as if they’re in the jungle.

You can also rent jungle documentaries or Animal Planet series to educate as well as entertain the children.

Don’t forget to send thank you notes to those who were in attendance.

Invitations

For these invitations, think—ADVENTURE!

You want your guests to anticipate their safari long before the party starts. Make sure to mail the invitations 3-4 weeks prior to the event.

For truly unique and memorable invitations try the following:

Write your invitations on large luggage tags

Send out invitations on postcards from Africa or the Amazon inviting guests to join you on a jungle adventure of a lifetime

Search for passport or suitcase themed invitations

If you don’t have time to make your own invitations, there are many jungle themed invitations you can purchase online.

Jungle Party Decorations

A great party needs great decorations. Decorations need not be expensive to be dazzling. A few key and strategically placed items can make a world of difference. Have fun with it. The movies Jumanji or Indiana Jones may give you some ideas and don’t forget to take a look around your home for things you may already have.

Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Lush plants like ferns, potted palms and even hanging house plants can give the impression of a humid, jungle environment.

Tropical fruits such as coconuts, papayas, pineapples and mangos make great table centerpieces. Encourage the guests to take them home for a nutritious party favor!

The color scheme for this party could be greens with browns and sparingly use oranges, reds and yellows. You can also go totally wild with animal prints. Solid colors mixed with animal print balloons or Mylar balloons are nice touches Streamers and all other decorations should remain true to the color scheme.

Don’t forget the birthday banners! Sometimes this simple decoration is often forgotten. Birthday banners are easy to make, or if you’re pressed for time, try purchasing a jungle themed banner. If you really want to surprise your explorer, try getting a personalized birthday party banner.

Raffia from a craft supply store can be place down the center of a table which mimics native grasses

Hang animal or African masks o the wall.

Cover the food area with palm fronds (fresh or silk) for a lush, tropical feel to the serving table.

Foods

Your choice of food can make or break a party. If you aren’t so inclined to do the food preparation yourself, by all means have it catered or even make it a potluck. Challenge guests to come up with jungle or safari themed main dishes, salads and beverages.

If you want to come up with some small snacks or ideas on your own, here is some food for thought!

Safari Burgers and Spears- grilled burgers with sweet potato fries

Place bowls of gummy worms and bugs onto the tables

Jungle Salad- tropical fruit salad served in hollowed-out pineapples

Monkey Tails- chocolate covered frozen bananas on a stick

Rainforest Ribs- sticky sweet pineapple teriyaki ribs

Swamp Punch- tint your favorite punch green

Game/Activity Ideas:

Every party needs games and activities. These games are sure to keep everyone giggling and provide good times for all!

Face Painting
Set up an animal face painting station. There are many websites you can find online to show you how to paint safari faces. This helps everyone get into the spirit! Children transform into magically into lions, zebras and tigers with the stroke of a brush.

Scavenger Hunt
Have the children embark on a fun trek through the jungle! Divide the children into small teams and give them a list of items they are to find. Be sure to let everyone know the scavenger boundaries. If at all possible, it’s best for each time to have a separate place to search. The team that finds the most items wins!

Animal Roundup
Take animal crackers and place them in bowls. Divide guests into groups of two. With each child in the team using only one of their index fingers, the object of the game is to retrieve one cookie from the bowl together, press the cookie between their cheeks and run or walk briskly to another bowl waiting on the other end. Together, they must drop the cookie into a waiting bowl and run back to repeat the process. The children have to work as a team and expect many dropped cookies! The team with the most cookies in the allotted time wins.

Lion, Lion TIGER!
A jungley variation on the game “Duck Duck Goose”–this game never gets old.

Piñata
What jungle party could be complete without a monkey piñata filled with goodies??

Favors/Goodie Bags

For a safari or jungle themed party think adventure and exploration. Favors and goodies such as plastic compasses, candy gold coins mini animal cameras, and safari hats all make excellent choices.

Good luck on your adventure—now go throw your child a party they’ll never forget!

This party is sure to please both the younger children and older kids or teens alike. Due to the enormous popularity of the books and movies, it’s no wonder why Potter Parties are among some of the most requested and highly-searched of all the theme parties. Find out how you can make your Harry Potter Birthday enchantingly Hogwarts!

Planning

It’s best to begin planning for the party at least 4 – 5 weeks in advance. This will ensure that you have enough time to send out invitations and purchase or make the decorations.

The first consideration that often comes up when planning a birthday party is where to have it. Your backyard or even inside of your home can be magically transformed into whatever you want with just a few choice decorations.

If you plan on making the decorations or invitations yourself, be sure to allow enough time to gather materials and complete the crafts. For those of us on a more pressing time schedule, there are companies that offer everything from pre-assembled Harry Potter birthday kits to plates, cups, trinkets and party favors—just be mindful of the shipping dates/times.

Tips

This is a fantastic party for kids of all ages because Harry Potter appeals to many demographics and there are nearly inexhaustible amounts of ideas.

Consider renting rarely used items such as tables/chairs or karaoke machines from party rental supply stores to save money.

Allow for extra guests by having a little extra food or a few extra goodie bags on hand.

Encourage guests to come as their favorite Harry Potter character. You can also hand Harry Potter glasses and wands or stuffed owls to guests as they enter the party.

Celtic instrumental CDs can assist with setting mood.

Don’t forget to send thank you notes to all those who attend.

Invitations

You want your guests to anticipate their Hogwarts education long before the party has arrived. Make sure to mail the invitations 3-4 weeks prior to the event.

For these invitations, think—wizards and wands, magic and mystery. Word the invitations in the flowery language of the books. Be whimsical and hint to the festivities ahead.

Here are some invitation ideas:

Sit down with the birthday wizard and write a spell-like invitation. Make sure it rhymes and cordially invites guests to participate in the celebration! This can be written on a scroll made of beige, heavy card stock and tied with a red or gold ribbon.

Another interesting idea for an invitation is to write them in invisible ink. You can send a pack of invisible ink markers and a decoder pen along with the invitation and instructions for guests to reveal the party details.

If time doesn’t permit you to make your own invitations, don’t feel bad. There are more Harry Potter invitations available online than you can wave a wand at!

Potter Party Decorations

Undoubtedly, your Harry Potter fan will be the most invaluable resource for decorating ideas. The books and movies are also great ways to familiarize yourself with all things Hogwarts Academy. Many of the decorations can be made by hand with little effort, or purchased online. A few key and strategically placed items can make a world of difference.

Here are a few decorating ideas to get you started.

The color scheme for this party should focus around gold/yellow or red/scarlet. Try mixing several solid colored balloons with a Harry Potter Mylar balloon. Streamers and all other decorations should remain true to the color scheme.

Banners enhance the festive mood and help transform the party location. This simple decoration is often forgotten, but makes a huge difference. Birthday banners are easy to make, or if you’re pressed for time, or you really want to impress your party wizard, try getting a personalized birthday party banner.

Clear glass jars can serve double duty as “apothecary jars” and help set the ambience. Be creative when labeling the jars or selecting what to put in them—think mad scientist’s lab!

Hang cardboard, foil covered or painted cutouts of stars, crescent moons and lightening bolts from the ceiling or trees (if outside).

Place signs around the party area such as “Hagrid’s Hut” or eat party foods in a room decorated like “The Great Hall”.

A few plastic cauldrons with dry ice and a little water will create a mysterious smoky effect.

A well placed broom or two and a few bats suspended in doorways can have a subtle impact on mood as well.

Greet guests at the door with a sign that says “platform 9 ¾”- Potter fans will “get” this extra touch!

Foods

Fortunately, when it comes to food, this wonderful series of books has an array of goodies to eat. A simple web search will reveal lots of interpretational recipes of the Harry Potter vittles mentioned in the book. If you aren’t so inclined to do the food preparation yourself, by all means have it catered or even make it a potluck. When filling out the invitations encourage guests to come up with Hogwarts inspired main dishes, salads and beverages.

If you want to come up with some small snacks or ideas on your own in addition to standard party food, here is some food for thought!

Bowls of Bertie Bott’s Everything Flavored Beans- Jelly Belly jelly beans in assorted flavors make excellent snacks.

Fizzing Whizbees Levitating Sherbet Balls- simply freeze scooped balls of rainbow sherbet on flat trays. These have the powers to make you levitate! Serve in little cups to eliminate mess.

Éclairs- made for the party by Hogwarts House Elves.

Serve mugs of butter beer- root beer

Game/Activity Ideas:

With a Harry Potter themed party, the possibility for games and activities are endless. Some games involve the use of flying brooms so they have to be modified for backyard fun. These exciting games are sure to keep even the most squirrelly of Hogwarts students entertained!

Try playing a version of Quidditch- Harry Potter’s most beloved and favorite game. Start by providing guests with a ball, broomsticks, and a large area to play in to play in where nothing can become damaged. Divide the group into two teams, and set up goals on opposite sides of the playing area. The object of the game is to get the ball over their goal line. Allow a set amount of time for this.

Fill a mason jar up with an assortment of jelly beans and label it Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans. Be sure to count out the correct number of jelly beans and have party guests try to guess the correct number of beans. Before the cake is cut and presents opened, reveal the correct number of beans to the lucky partygoer!

Think you know all there is to know about Harry Potter? Then have a Harry Potter trivia contest. There are numerous sites online where you can find Potter trivia and be sure to offer prizes such as a goblet or light up Harry Potter wand.

Have a Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans sampling contest. Pass around cups of jelly beans with one flavor at a time. Have the children taste the jelly bean then write down which flavor they think it is, younger kids may need assistance with this part. Continue to do this for each flavor of jelly bean. The winner is the one with the most correctly guessed flavors.

Don’t forget the piñata. Few parties are complete without one and what better choice than a wizard hat piñata? Imagine all of the smiles and giggles as the goodies come pouring out when one lucky kid breaks through. Children are typically lined up shortest to tallest.

Favors/Goodie Bags

Harry Potter fans will appreciate party favors that are uniquely Harry Potter. Trinkets like wands, temporary tattoos, stuffed owls, and Harry Potter glasses make the perfect treats for Hogwarts students tired after a day of festivities.

Have a magical time!

It’s no wonder why a Bolt movie party is one of the most popular themes for children’s birthday parties since its release in November 2008. Incorporate some themes from the movie and turn this into a howling good birthday party to remember!

For those of us on a more pressing time schedule, there are companies that offer everything from pre-assembled Bolt themed birthday kits to plates, cups, trinkets and party favors—just be mindful of the shipping dates/times.

Tips

This is a great party to entertain younger children. For a 2-3 hour birthday party, one activity and a viewing of the movie will more than keep children happy. Play an activity first then order or make pizza for them to enjoy while watching the movie. Afterwards, the birthday pup can open presents then have cake and ice cream!

Consider renting rarely used items such as tables/chairs or karaoke machines from party rental supply stores to save money.

Allow for extra guests by having a little extra food or a few extra goodie bags on hand.

Invitations

You want your guests to anticipate your movie party long before the party starts. Make sure to mail the invitations 3-4 weeks prior to the event.

For these invitations, think—movie screening. Word the invitations in such a way where guests are aware they are cordially invited to attend a very special screening of Bolt to celebrate ________’s birthday!

Here are some invitation ideas:

Make your invitations shaped like dog tags

Create paw or dog bone shaped invitations out of construction paper

Search for dog shaped invitations

Stamp the back of a sealed envelope with a dog paw or bone ink stamp

If you don’t have time to make your own invitations, fret not. There are loads of Bolt themed invitations and personalized invitations online for you to choose from.

Bolt Movie Party Decorations

You’ll be amazed how doggone fun it is to decorate for this party. Many of the decorations can be made by hand with little effort, or purchased online. A few key and strategically placed items can make a world of difference. Party decorating is supposed to be fun and if you have a pet, don’t forget to take a look around your home for things you may already have.

Here are a few ideas to get you started.

The color scheme for this party should focus around sky blue, oranges, reds and yellows. Paw prints and outlines of dogs also stay with the theme as well. Try mixing several solid colored balloons with a printed Bolt latex balloon. Streamers and all other decorations should remain true to the color scheme.

Place several banners around the party location. This simple decoration is often forgotten, but makes a world of difference. Birthday banners are easy to make, or if you’re pressed for time, or you really want to impress your party pup, try getting a personalized birthday party banner.

Serve table snacks such as chips out of brand new dog bowls.

Try making and painting little dog houses out of cardboard boxes. These can serve as table decorations done before hand or used as a party craft project.

Since Bolt had to make a cross country journey, hang up a map of the United States and retrace the path taken by Bolt and his companions in his quest to reunite with his owner.

Foods

These ideas will provide inspiration and a spring board for your own doggie delights. If you aren’t so inclined to do the food preparation yourself, by all means have it catered or even make it a ‘Pawt’ luck. When filling out the invitations, encourage guests to come up with Bolt or dog inspired main dishes, salads and beverages.

If you want to come up with some small snacks or ideas on your own, here is some food for thought!

Dog bone cookie cutters are a great way to turn sandwiches, pizza, cookies or brownies into Bolt approved party snacks

Bow Wow Burgers- top grilled burgers with crunchy French fried onion “kibble”

Order pizza for the little ones to eat while watching the movie

Game/Activity Ideas:

Every party needs games and activities, but the good thing about having a movie screening party for younger kids is that the act of viewing the movie is a major activity for them. Before the movie, plan a game or project which will allow for any late comers to the party. All that is left to do after viewing the movie is cut the cake, open presents and break open the piñata, if you have one.

Before the movie, let children cut out sugar cookies with either the dog bone or puppy cookie cutters. The cookies can bake while the movie is on and can cool completely. Next the children can decorate their cookies and take them home as a favor.

If the kids are older you can always play a variation on the "pin the tail" game, ie. Pin the tail on Bolt. Bolt’s travels across the country would also lend itself to a scavenger hunt game.

Favors/Goodie Bags

Bolt fans will love anything related to the movie such as bone straws or favors and goodies like dog tags, and little stuffed puppies. Be sure that the children remember to take home their cookie cutters and cookies—if they make it that long!

Have fun!

For over forty years, Spider-Man has captivated an audience of comic, cartoon, and movie lovers alike. This always has been and always will be a popular party amongst little boys- just as princess parties are popular with the little ladies! Read further and find out some practical tips on how to spin a web that captures the imagination of all who attend your party.

For those of us on a more pressing time schedule, there are companies that offer everything from pre-assembled Spider-Man Party birthday kits to plates, cups, trinkets and party favors—just be mindful of the shipping dates/times.

Tips

If you know your child may want a Spider-Man themed party, keep an eye out for after-Halloween sales. Many of the same decorations can be used for a web-slinger party.

Invitations

You want your guests to anticipate their superhero adventure long before the party’s date has arrived. Make sure to mail the invitations 3-4 weeks prior to the event to guarantee they arrive in time so people can plan accordingly.

For these invitations, think—superheroes and “Spidey sense”. Word the invitations as if you’re writing a comic. Use high action words and hint at fighting crime!

Here are some invitation ideas:

Cut web-shaped invitations out and write the party information in the concentric rings of the web. Black construction paper with white gel pen works well for this. Include small plastic spiders and a little faux spider webbing in the envelope to set the tone.

If time doesn’t permit you to make your own invitations, don’t feel bad. There are plenty of Spider-Man invitations available online for you to choose from.

Spider-Man Party Decorations

Spider-Man decorations can come from old comic books, cartoon or movie influences. Many of the decorations can be made by hand with little effort, or purchased online. A few key and strategically placed items can make a world of difference. Also bear in mind that old Halloween decorations make great additions to this party’s theme.

Here are a few decorating ideas to get you started:

The color scheme for this party should focus around red and blue streamers and balloons. Try mixing several solid colored balloons with a Spider-Man Mylar balloon. Streamers, plates and all other decorations should remain true to the color scheme.

A red and blue birthday banner adds a festive touch to any party. Birthday banners are easy to make, but if you’re pressed for time, spin a web around your little web slinger and try getting a personalized birthday party banner.

Tables can be strewn with plastic spiders, fake webs and covered red or blue tablecloths.

Spiderman wall decorations make your walls come alive with a clinging web slinger named Spidey.

• Drape fake webs with little entangled spiders to set the tone for the party.

Foods

It’s easy to get imaginative with Spider-Man themed party foods. Name dishes after heroes or villains and if you aren’t so inclined to do the food preparation yourself, by all means have it catered or even make it a potluck. When filling out the invitations encourage guests to come up with Spider-Man or superhero inspired main dishes, salads and beverages.

If you want to come up with some small snacks or ideas on your own in addition to standard party food, here is some food for thought!

What do superheroes eat—why Superhero Sandwiches of course! Make these sandwiches like any other hero or submarine sandwich and cut them into smaller sections for small hands to handle.

Rent a cotton candy machine from a party supply store and make web-like cotton candy.

Bake your own sticky cake in this Spider-Man cake pan. You can also make cupcakes decorated with cobwebs or gummy bugs.

Place dishes with gummy bugs and worms or spiders onto tables for guests to enjoy.

Peter Parker’s Pepperoni Pizza- try saying that 3 times fast! These little pizzas can be assembled by the kids themselves using a variety of crusts such as fresh or refrigerated dough, English muffins, and even pita bread. Experiment with different toppings—the kids will have a blast.

Freeze gummy spiders in ice cube trays and place them into your favorite party punch for a creative twist.

Game/Activity Ideas:

Silly Putty Comic Relief
Have children bring comic books or you can supply them. Take silly putty and let the children have fun pressing the putty against the print and lifting it off. Children can also make their own comic or flip books as a craft project.

Super Hero Masks
When the children arrive, direct them to a table where they can build superhero masks from various craft materials. The masks can be simple or ornate, but bear in mind that this project can run over in time, so keep the choice of materials fairly simple.

Spider Hunt
Try having a spider scavenger hunt. Leave various plastic or rubber spiders of differing sizes hidden all over the party space. You can either have the children hunt for them like Easter eggs, or supply them with clues and divide them into teams. Different sized spiders can be worth different prizes. The team with the most spiders or the most points wins.

Sticky Spider
This game is a variation on “hot potato”. Children stand in a circle and a spider is passed while music plays. When the music stops, whomever is left holding the spider is “out”.

Movie Viewing
Watch old Spider-Man cartoons or rent one of the movies if the children aren’t too young.

Don’t forget the piñata. Few parties are complete without one and what better choice than a Spider-Man piñata? Children are typically lined up shortest to tallest and require adult supervision throughout this activity.

Favors/Goodie Bags

Spidey fans will appreciate party favors that are spider or Spider-Man related. Trinkets like Spider-Man masks, temporary tattoos, bug candies and pencils or erasers make the perfect treats for party pooped web slingers.

Have fun!

Even before the rising popularity of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Pirate Themed Parties have long been a favorite among children and adults alike. The lure of discovering hidden treasures, secret coves and sailing the seven seas brings out the adventure seeker in us all!

Planning

It’s best to begin planning for the party at least 4 – 5 weeks in advance. This will ensure that you have enough time to send out invitations and purchase or make the decorations.

The first consideration that often comes up when planning a birthday party is where to have it. Your backyard or even inside of your home can be magically transformed into a secret pirate hideaway with a few choice decorations. If you’re near a beach or lake, and if weather permits, these too make excellent selections for the party location as well.

If you plan on making the decorations or invitations yourself, be sure to allow enough time to gather materials and complete the crafts. For those of us on a more pressing time schedule, there are companies that offer everything from pre-assembled pirate themed birthday kits to dozens of trinkets and party favors—just be mindful of the shipping dates/times.

Tips

Pass out red, black or skull & cross bones bandanas to guests as they enter. Later, teams can be formed for games based on which bandana they received. Eye patches and clip-on pirate hoop earrings complete the look.

Consider renting large or rarely used items such as large treasure chests, tables/chairs or karaoke machines from party rental supply stores to save money.

Allow for extra guests by having a little extra food or a few extra goodie bags on hand.

Invitations

As with anything, first impressions are vital!

The invitations you send guests will set the mood for the party to come. This is your time to be creative. Why not set the tone for the party by wording the invitation in “pirate-speak”. A few well placed ‘arg matey’, ‘swashbuckler’ and ‘jolly roger’ references will get your invitation off on the right peg leg!

For truly unique and memorable invitations try the following:

Send your guests an invitation in a bottle. This is a clever and imaginative way to give partygoers a sneak peek into what to expect. If you want to make the invitations yourself, take empty glass soda bottles and remove any labels. Tightly roll a handwritten scroll with all of the party information, tie it with a thin rope or piece of raffia and place into the bottle. Lastly, plug the bottle with a cork. Just don’t forget to make sure the scroll is wound tightly enough so it can be easily retrieved from the bottle!

Message in a bottle invitation kits are not only inexpensive, but make quick work of this important task. If you’re mailing the bottles, be sure the pack them well and include a few chocolate gold coins and faux pearl strands in the box.

Try drawing a rough ‘treasure map’ of your neighborhood on construction paper or a beige heavy paper stock. You can search online for a treasure map image to print or draw one yourself. Crumple the paper slightly or fray the edges a bit to give it a ‘worn’ appearance. Be sure to include a couple of pieces of chocolate gold coins in the envelope. Last but not least, a pirate sticker makes the perfect finishing touch for a sealed invitation envelope. On party day, X marks the spot at the front door or wherever guests enter.

Pirate Party Decorations

The most important factors of any great party are the decorations. Decorations need not be expensive to be dazzling. A few key and strategically placed items can make a world of difference. Have fun with it, maybe watch a pirate movie to get some ideas and take a look around your home for things you may already have.

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Create your own castaway’s island from an inflatable kiddie pool, sandbox sand purchased from a home improvement center, and an inflatable palm tree. Add various gold coins (a mix of chocolate, bubble gum or plastic), toys such as crabs or little buried treasure chests, and sand castle toys and let the digging begin. Not only does this make a great decoration, it’s also a fun activity as well.

Scatter mardi gras-type beads, candy coins and other little trinkets such as sea shells and strings of faux pearls around the tables.

Affix “nets” on top of table cloths or walls. For extra added effect, add little crabs or plastic fish from them.

Hang the Jolly Roger near the front entrance where guests enter and place smaller pirate flags all around or on tables.

A good color scheme for decorating a pirate themed party would be red/black/gold. Mix a few pirate skull and crossbones balloons in with solid red, black or gold ones for a nice touch. Also, try to maintain a consistent color scheme throughout decorating.

Don’t forget the birthday banner! Sometimes this simple decoration is often forgotten. Birthday banners are easy to make, or if you’re in a time crunch try purchasing a pirate themed birthday banner. For a cut above the rest, surprise your swashbuckler with a personalized birthday party banner.

Foods

This is your chance to let your inner creative chef shine! If you aren’t so inclined to do the food preparation yourself, by all means have it catered or even make it a potluck. Challenge guests to come up with pirate themed main dishes, salads and beverages.

If you want to come up with small snacks or ideas on your own, here is some inspirational food for thought!

Imitation crab salad made with shell pasta

Bowls of gummy fish or sharks make nice table snacks

Make a chex mix type snack and add goldfish crackers

Root beer floats served from frosty mugs make perfect toasting drinks

Pirate Planks- fish sticks and tartar sauce

Hidden Treasure Cupcakes- fill a cupcake paper halfway and place a frozen Hershey’s kiss or other mini candy on top of batter. Fill with more batter until about ¾ full. The candy will melt and create a gooey, chocolatey center!

Pirate Punch- 1 ½ C. lemonade, 1½ pt. lemon seltzer water, 2 (12 oz) cans frozen cranberry juice concentrate. Mix ingredients together and serve chilled.

Chicken Gold Nuggets

Castaway Cove Calzones- smaller parties can make these tasty pizza pockets for a real treat. Allow children to fill their own pizza dough (can be obtained from a local pizzeria) with various toppings for baking.

Set out plastic swords instead of toothpicks to skewer chunks of fruit or cocktail sausages

Game/Activity Ideas:

What is a party without games? Many of the old standard party favorites can be given a new pirate twist just by altering their names or rules.

Face Painting

Set up a pirate face painting station. There are many websites you can find online to show you how to paint pirate faces. This helps everyone get into the spirit! Children can sport scars, stubbly beards and scruffy moustaches- Argggg!

Costume Contest

Encourage children to dress up in pirate attire and have a costume contest. Don’t forget the prizes!

Pass the Plunder

This is a take on the party standard “pass the parcel”. To make the package, wrap a prize (toys, candies or other party favors) in gold foil. Next, take another trinket and place it on top of the currently wrapped one. Wrap this layer and continue in this manner until all of the treats for the children have been wrapped.

Begin playing music and allow the children to “pass the plunder” until you stop the music. Whoever is holding the plunder when the music stops is allowed to unwrap one layer and have the treat. Continue this until each child has received a trinket. Be sure to notice that each child has gotten one chance to unwrap the plunder!

Pin the Eye Patch on the Pirate

No party is complete without some version of this beloved party game. In this version, the goal is to… well… pin the eye patch on the pirate.

Treasure Hunt

A pirate party is just not a pirate party without a treasure hunt!! They don’t have to be elaborate- a roughly drawn map or even just clues can send teams on the adventure of a lifetime for hidden treasure. Teams can be picked according to bandana color or by the birthday buccaneer’s choice. Hide treasures in little chests or slightly hidden out of sight. The treasure can range from strings of faux pearls and candy coins to gold Dollar coins and even little gift certificates.

Piñatas

A pirate ship or treasure chest piñata is a great way to round out the party. Children can line up according to size and all take a chance at whacking these suspended party favors. Fill them with candies, confetti, or anything else you can think of. These are a great hit with kids!

Favors/Goodie Bags

For a pirate themed party, favors and goodies such as temporary tattoos, eye patches, pirate pencils or erasers, plastic compasses and candy gold coins or sea shells make excellent choices.

With a little planning, you can throw a birthday party everyone will be talking about for months to come!

American Idol Party

American Idol is the hottest show on television these days. Girls ages 10-16 in particular are the biggest audience. If you are looking for a fun, new birthday theme an American Idol party is sure to be winner.

It is always best to give your self plenty of time for preparation. If you have the time start your preparation and planning at least 4-5 weeks ahead of time. This will give you the time you need to get your supplies delivered, your food ordered, invitations designed and sent out. If you don’t have that much time, don’t panic—you can still pull off a memorable American Idol Party.

Tip:

To make everything easier you can order all your American Idol party supplies here.

This is a company we have used with great success, many times. In fact we have ordered birthday supplies from other companies over the years and it has been hit and miss. For the last few years we have been using this company exclusively and we have never had problem. They have reasonable prices, great product selection and have never had a delivery issue.

Invitations

It is always a good idea to send party invitations out 2-3 weeks before the party.
An idea for an invitation would be one that reads like a casting call:

You’re invited to try out for the next American Idol Karaoke Competition!

Location: (Your address or location for the party)
Date:
Time:

Are you the next American Idol? Come to (your child’s name) house to sing and find out. We will have food, prizes, and lots of fun. Oh and we will be celebrating (your child’s name) birthday too!

Please RSVP

If you want you can invite the guests to come dressed as if they were auditioning for the popular singing show.

American Idol Birthday Party Decorations

Probably the easiest idea would be to order these directly from our favorite Birthday Suppply Company. They have all the licensed logo products so their American Idol party supplies will look just like they came from the TV show.

If you want to do the decorations on your own here are ideas.

Be sure to keep in mind the American Idol colors blue and silver. You will want to have a stage area and a place or the judges to sit. You can hang a white sheet or use white butcher paper for the back drop of the stage and paint American Idol on it. Opposite the stage set up a table where the judges can sit. Hang stars and balloons all over. Put streamers all around the party room. Use star confetti for the tables. If you have lights you can aim on the stage that will add to the effect.

You will need to get a karaoke machine of some time, if you don’t already have one. If you are not interested in purchasing one, they can be rented. You can also lay out a red carpet or again use butcher paper or a cut sheet painted red to be used as they guests come in.

Game Ideas

For this party the game will really be the singing contest. The idea is to make it as fun as possible and have a prize for every contestant. No real "best" winner—but winners of other categories like: funniest, loudest, craziest costume, best moves, wildest hair.….. You can have a certificate ready to go and based on what comes to mind as they are singing just fill in the name for the category the category they won and the party guest’s name.

Allow them to sing in groups or lip sync if too shy.

Make sure you have older kids or parents as the judges and make sure all the comments are kept positive—No Simon!

If you want someone can video tape the contestants and then play it back for everyone later.

When the guests arrive they can be handed toy microphones, jewelry, perhaps be given a make over…you can be real creative here.

You don’t even need to have a contest if you want, just let everyone sing and have fun. For other Birthday Party Theme ideas you can take a look here.
